Set Back & 2 week check up

We had a little set back last week. Last Tuesday we ended admitting TJ into the hospital due to respiratory problems. He was at Utah Valley for 4 days. At first they thought that he had RSV but that came back negative. So then they thought that he might have sleep apnea because his oxygen will be great in the high 90's then all of a sudden his oxygen level will drop into the 80's. So they ran some tests to see if he had apnea or not. That too, came back negative. So after 4 long days in a hospital room, the doctor finally said that he thinks that his central nervous system wasn't fully developed when he was born and that is why his oxygen will drop at times.

TJ is finally home but he is on oxygen. Also is on a machine that monitor his oxygen level and and an apnea monitor. Which is a pain in the butt but it's also way nice to know that his oxygen level is doing OK. So it has it's pros's and con's to it.

But today was his 2 week appointment and the doctor took him off the apnea monitor and also lowered his oxygen level. We will have a sleep test in 2 weeks to see if we can take him off the oxygen all together. He has learned how the pull the oxygen tube out of his nose. He hates it!! He gets mad sometimes when we try to put it back in. But other than that, TJ is doing great and is a little piggy. He is starting to stay awake more during the day. He is such a great baby.

TJ's 2 week check up. I can't believe he is getting so big.
Weighs 8lbs 25%tile
Measures 20 inches 18%tile
Head circumference 13.5 6%tile

TJ was hooked up to so many cords it was hard to hold him and love him but we still would.

Finally Home!!

TJ RYKER VARNEY

I can't believe that my baby boy is here already. He was 3 weeks and 1 day early. He weighed 6 lbs 13 oz and was 19 inches long. On Monday the 14th I went in for my routine check up and my blood pressure was kind of high so my doctor had me go to the hospital to be evaluated. Once I got there everything was back to normal and I wasn't sure why I was there. But there I sat and waited until I got my blood work back. Everything looked good except for my liver enzymes. They were elevated but not really high so the doctor sent me home and put me on bed rest until Wednesday when I was suppose to go back in for more blood work and be re checked. But Tuesday afternoon the nurse called me and told me that I was in the beginning stages of HELP and that the doctor wanted me admitted into the hospital so I could have my baby. Now, I really don't know if I had HELP or preeclampisa but they knew that my liver was having some issues and the best thing would be to have the baby so things wouldn't get worse for me or for the baby. So around 4:30 PM I was induced and I had him at 10:51 PM. They didn't think I would have him until the next morning because my body wasn't ready to have a baby yet but he came. During delivery they noticed the cord was wrapped around his face. He wouldn't be able to come without cutting the cord before he came out. That was pretty scary but once they cut the cord he came out just fine. Only had a bruise around his lips and nose from it but no other damage.

TJ has been such a good baby so far. He went in for a check up on Monday and he is doing really well. He is back up to his birth weight and his lungs are doing great. Before we left the hospital they put him on a car seat restriction. Once he get into a car seat his stats would drop low but they removed that on Monday which is nice. It was hard taking him to the hospital everyday for labs. Either Trevor or I would have to sit in the back with him and make sure he wasn't turning blue in the face.

Deegen and Cassidy just love TJ. They are always wanting to hold him or be around him. They are such great helpers. I'm so glad to have this little angel finally here. I am so lucky to be blessed with 3 adorable healthy kids. Everyday I am grateful for them.

Lost his first tooth

Deegen finally lost his first tooth on Thursday Oct. 14. I know I know Deegen is 7 so he’s a little behind but it’s better late than never. He noticed it was loose that Sunday and Trevor pulled it out on Thursday. We had to; his adult tooth was already popping out. He was so happy that he finally lost a tooth.
As soon as he lost that tooth the one next to it came loose. He lost that one on Saturday the 16th. I got to pull that one and I think that will be the last for me. He likes dad to do it. Deegen says that Trevor does it better than I do.

We are so glad that he is finally losing his baby teeth. He’s a pumpkin face now. Deegen has another lose tooth on top. But it has a while before it will come out. Give it another week and he will have 3 missing teeth. Kind of cute, my baby is growing up.

HAPPY 3rd BIRTHDAY!!!

I can’t believe that 3 years have gone by since my princess came into our lives. I love having this girl around the house. It is so much fun the way she loves to do girly things. Cassidy is turning into such a big girl. She no longer lets me call her baby. When I do she says “mom I’m your big girl not your baby”. It’s cute but also sad that she is growing up so fast. It seems like yesterday I was holding her in my arms for the first time. I am so lucky to be Cassidy’s mom. She tells me that I’m her best friend (I hope it will always stay that way). I can’t believe she went from this little baby sweetheart:

Then to this

Now here she is (so big)

Cassidy is so full of life; always getting into things. She loves to explore and find new things that she can play with. She loves to hang out with her big brother. She looks up to him so much. Always wanting to play with him even when he has friends over she wants to be involved. I am so lucky that Heavenly father sent her to me. Not a day goes by that she doesn’t tell me that she loves me and that I’m pretty and beautiful. And I love every moment of it. She is the biggest tease; she gets that from her dad. Trevor and Cass tease each other all the time and they both love it. She is still pretty shy (she gets that from her dad as well) but it’s nice and we hope it stays that way. She is in dance and loves every moment of it. She is the youngest in her class and she is keeping up with the older kids. She dances and sings around the house all the time. It is so funny to watch. Right now she is into the Disney Princess’s, Cinderella is her favorite but it changes all the time. Cass loves horses and wants one of her own. Cass loves to go camping and 4-wheeling. Cass told us the other day that she wants to be a doctor when she grows up. Which surprised us, she hates going to the doctors. She loves to help me cook. Every weekend she makes her dad pancakes. She does most of it; I’m just there to help with the pouring. She is such a good little cook and then when we are done she wants to do the dishes. This is a good and bad thing. More water ends up on the floor than in the sink but she’s learning. I could go on and on about her but here are a few pictures of Cass over the past year:

HAPPY BIRTHDAY!! We love you so much!!
